삼겹살 samgyupsal: three-layered pork
삼겹살 is one of my favorite koresn food. i had it in 2000 when i visited seoul for the first time in my life. i still remember how impressed i was! it's much cheaper than 불고기 (bulkogi) and still tasted as good, or maybe better. usually you roll it with veggies such as lettus or sesame leaves, but you can also roll it with a thin slice of 떡 (rice cake), which is called 떡쌈. the best 떡쌈 place i've been in seoul is probably 떡쌈시대 (www.ttokssam.co.kr) in 종로. average wait time is like 20-30 min, but it's totally worth it!
